AirBio Marine, the Marine Division of AirBio
One technical partner for air, water and galley systems on board — with our own technicians, not subcontracted crews.
AirBio has been cleaning and sanitizing air-conditioning systems, air ducts, extraction hoods and water systems for years ashore. AirBio Marine is the same company and the same technicians working on yachts: alongside, around the crew programme, with a written report at the end. We work for owners, captains, chief engineers, yacht managers, charter companies and shipyards.
Four things that decide whether a job goes well
In-house technicians
The people who come on board are employed and trained by AirBio. We do not hand the job to a subcontracted cleaning crew, which is why the same technician can come back the following season and already know where the tank hatches and the calorifier are.
Answer within 24 hours
A technician calls you back, not a call centre. On the call we work out whether this needs a survey or whether it can be answered on the phone.
A report after every job
Photographs before and after, the products used with their data sheets, and the laboratory analysis when the job involves drinking water. See how a job runs for what the report contains.
Mediterranean coverage
Our base is Viareggio, in the middle of the Tuscan refit area. From there we cover the main Italian marinas and yards, the French Riviera, Monaco, Sardinia and the Balearics — equipment travels with the technicians. The ports page lists where we work most often.
A small hotel, closed up for six months

A yacht has, in a few hundred square metres, the same systems a small hotel has: fan coils and air handling units, ducts running through joinery, a galley extraction line, fresh-water tanks, a calorifier and a distribution network with long dead legs. The difference is that it is closed up for months at a time and then filled with guests in a weekend.
That is why the two problems we are called about most are a smell from the air conditioning and water that tastes or smells wrong. They are usually the visible end of something mechanical: a wet coil covered in dust, a blocked condensate drain, a tank that sat full and warm through the winter.
We treat the system rather than the symptom. That takes longer than spraying a fragrance through the vents, and it is the only thing that stops the problem coming back on the next charter.
Air, water and galley — the three systems that cause the calls
Air systems
Fan coils, air handling units, air ducts, split and packaged air conditioning. See all air and water services.
Water systems
Fresh-water tanks, calorifier, distribution lines, sampling and Legionella work. Details on water-system sanitization.
Galley extraction
Canopy, baffle filters and the extraction duct up to the fan — the part that matters for fire risk as much as for smell. See galley hood cleaning.
Seasonal work
Pre-season, post-refit and charter turnaround — planned around the programme, not the other way round.
Analysis
Water sampling and Legionella testing through an external laboratory, with the report passed to you as it came from the lab.

Certified in air-system hygiene
AirBio Marine is the marine division of AirBio. These are AirBio’s certifications, and the work on board is done by AirBio’s own technicians.
A.I.I.S.A. member
AirBio is an ordinary member of A.I.I.S.A., the Associazione Italiana Igienisti Sistemi Aeraulici — the Italian association of air-system hygienists — as attested for 2026. Members work to shared standards for cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining air systems.
AIISA/NADCA Air Systems Cleaning Specialist
ASCS is the international qualification for cleaning air ducts and HVAC systems, recognised by A.I.I.S.A. and by NADCA, the trade body whose ACR standard we follow for air-side work. AirBio also reports the Ventilation System Mold Remediator (VSMR) qualification, for mould in ventilation systems.
These certifications cover the company’s competence in air-system hygiene. They are not a certificate of compliance for your yacht: what you receive after a job is the technical report of what was done and measured.
About AirBio Marine: questions
Are you a cleaning company or a technical company?
Technical. The cleaning stage is part of the job, but the work is on the system: units opened, coils and trays cleaned, ducts accessed, water lines disinfected and flushed, then checked. The people who do it are technicians, not a cleaning crew.
Do you work only in Italy?
Our base is Viareggio and most of our work is in the Italian and French Mediterranean, including Monaco, Sardinia and the Balearics. We travel to other ports on request, with the equipment carried by the technicians.
Do you issue a certificate of compliance?
No. A private yacht is not covered by the public drinking-water rules, so there is nothing to certify against. What you get is a technical report of what was done and what was measured, including the laboratory analysis when samples were taken.
Can you work during a charter season?
Yes, and that is most of what we do. Air-side work is done space by space so the rest of the yacht stays in use, and water-side work is planned into a changeover. A turnaround is a normal working window for us.
Who is the client, usually?
Captains and chief engineers most often, then yacht managers and charter companies, then owners directly, and shipyards during a refit. The report is written so that any of them can hand it to the next person.
Talk to a technician
Tell us the yacht, the port and what the crew has noticed. A technician calls you back within 24 hours.
Tell us about the yacht
Yacht length, marina, systems and what you have noticed on board. A technician reads the message and calls you back to plan the survey.
