Yacht Sanitization in Olbia

The gateway to the Costa Smeralda, and where the real work gets done.

Olbia is the practical end of north-east Sardinia: the port where yachts are provisioned, serviced and prepared before they go round to the glamour berths. For us that makes it the better place to work — more room, fewer constraints, no guests waiting.

Where preparation happens, away from the audience

A job that would be awkward in Porto Cervo is straightforward here, and it is the same yacht.

Quay access is easier, so the units sit where they should and the hoses run a sensible route. Work can start early and finish properly instead of being stopped because a tender needs the berth.

It is also where the season is set up. A yacht prepared in Olbia in May — water system treated and sampled, fan coils cleaned, galley extraction degreased — goes round the corner ready, rather than carrying last year’s problems into the first charter.

At the end of the season the same logic applies in reverse: come back here for the work rather than doing it under pressure in a guest port.

Timing

Set the season up here in spring

The island fills from June. What gets booked in April is what gets done properly.

Spring is the window for the full list, because there is time for a laboratory result to come back and for a second pass if it needs one.

Autumn is the window for the air side, before the yacht is closed up for the winter with damp coils and a season of dust in the ducts.

How a visit works

From the first call to the report

The sequence is the same whichever berth you are on in Olbia. What changes is the timing, and that is planned around the yacht rather than around us.

We look before we quote

A technician goes through the yacht with the crew: which outlets are used daily and which almost never, where the air handling units sit, what the crew has actually noticed.

The visit is planned around you

We fit the work into the window you have — between charters, during a yard period, or over a quiet weekend alongside.

We work alongside

No yard move and no lift. The heavy equipment stays on the quay; only hoses and a small dosing unit come aboard, on protected decks.

You get it in writing

Sampling points, what was done, and the laboratory report where water was analysed. That document is what closes the job.

A word from our CEO

A clean system is easy to prove when every step is written down. That is what we hand to the captain.

FAQ

Working in Olbia: frequently asked questions

Is it better to work in Olbia or Porto Cervo?

Olbia, whenever the programme allows. There is more room, fewer restrictions and no guest schedule to work around, and the yacht is the same either way.

Do you come over from the mainland?

Yes, on request. We plan the visit around your dates and confirm what the travel means for timing before anything is booked.

What should be done before the first charter?

At minimum, treat and sample the water system, and clean the galley extraction. If there is any history of smells from the air conditioning, add the fan coils — in season there will be no time.
