Yacht Sanitization in Valencia
A stop between Barcelona and the Balearics — and a good place to fix something in two days.
Valencia is where a lot of yachts pause: after a yard period up the coast, before the crossing to Palma or Ibiza, or waiting for weather. The marina has the depth and the berth length for large yachts, and the city is next door. That makes it the natural place to deal with a problem that surfaced on the last leg before it follows the yacht into the season.
A two-day stop is enough for most jobs
What can realistically be done between one leg and the next, without holding the yacht.
Most of what we are called for in Valencia is a problem the crew noticed under way: a cabin that smells when the air conditioning runs, water at a deck shower that comes out cloudy, a galley hood that has started to drip. None of these need a yard. They need a technician on board with the right equipment and a clear window.
In two days we can open and clean the fan coils in the cabins that are complaining, clean the galley canopy and filters, and disinfect and flush the fresh-water system overnight while nobody is aboard. Sampling for Legionella takes minutes on board; the laboratory result follows the yacht by email.
What does not fit in two days is a full duct system on a large yacht. If that is what the survey shows, we say so and plan it for the next yard period rather than starting something that cannot be finished.

Everything we can treat while you are in Valencia
The same six jobs make up almost every visit. On most yachts more than one of them is needed at the same time, which is why we survey first and then plan them into a single stop.

Fresh water system
Tanks, distribution lines and every outlet treated as one network, then checked.

Before the crossing, not after it
The Balearics in July are not the place to discover a water problem.
A yacht leaving Valencia for Palma or Ibiza is usually heading into the busiest weeks of her year. A water sample taken here, and a fresh-water system disinfected here, means the season starts with a known baseline instead of a hope.
The same logic applies coming back in September: a stop here on the way north is the moment to deal with what the summer left in the fan coils and the tanks, before the yacht is closed up.
From the first call to the report
The sequence is the same whichever berth you are on in Valencia. What changes is the timing, and that is planned around the yacht rather than around us.
We look before we quote
A technician goes through the yacht with the crew: which outlets are used daily and which almost never, where the air handling units sit, what the crew has actually noticed.
The visit is planned around you
We fit the work into the window you have — between charters, during a yard period, or over a quiet weekend alongside.
We work alongside
No yard move and no lift. The heavy equipment stays on the quay; only hoses and a small dosing unit come aboard, on protected decks.
You get it in writing
Sampling points, what was done, and the laboratory report where water was analysed. That document is what closes the job.

Every port has its own rhythm. We plan the visit around the berth and the crew, not the other way round.

Every intervention is carried out by AirBio technicians employed and trained in house, never subcontracted. We work under certified management systems and close each job with a technical report the captain can file on board.

What a visit looks like
A few moments from the jobs we do on yachts every season: the equipment on the quay, the systems we open and the checks we close with. The same way of working applies in Valencia.

Working in Valencia: frequently asked questions
We are only in Valencia for two days. Is that enough?
For fan coils, air conditioning units, galley extraction and a fresh-water system disinfection, yes. The survey on day one sets what fits; the water side is done overnight so the yacht is not held. A full air-duct system on a large yacht is planned separately.
Can you take Legionella samples before we cross to the Balearics?
Yes. Samples are taken on board at the points that matter — calorifier outlet and the furthest taps — and sent to the laboratory. The result reaches you by email wherever the yacht is by then.
Do you have to come from Italy for this?
Our base is Viareggio and Valencia is reached on request. In practice we group visits along the Spanish coast and the Balearics, so a request with a few days of notice is normally possible. The technician confirms dates on the first call.
What if the problem turns out to be bigger than a quick fix?
We tell you on the survey. If the right answer is a longer job at the next yard period, you get that in writing with the reasons, and we do what can be done safely now.
In Valencia?
Tell us the yacht, her length, the yard or berth and the dates. A technician calls you back within 24 hours.
Tell us about the yacht
Yacht length, marina, systems and what you have noticed on board. A technician reads the message and calls you back to plan the survey.
